Overview

The Neuroscience Ph.D. Program offers an interdepartmental, integrated curriculum for graduate study in neuroscience involving the departments of Anatomy and Neurobiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Pharmacology and Toxicology, and Physiology and Biophysics.  Students in the program have the flexibility to train in the laboratory of neuroscience faculty member exploring the fields of molecular, cellular, developmental, systems, behavioral, and clinical neuroscience.  The curriculum includes core courses in neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, biochemistry and molecular biology after which it is customized for each student’s interests, background and research objectives.  The goal of the graduate program in neuroscience is to provide students with a core of knowledge of the basic structure and function of the central nervous system, while allowing flexibility in the choice of their advisers, electives and areas of research specialization.
