Life In Richmond

Our Career Development Internship Program provides internship opportunities for students who are looking for a laboratory research experience in the Richmond area. The program is open to juniors and seniors in good academic standing. Interns will gain valuable experience and often a letter of recommendation for their participation. Students should request interviews with faculty before summer interning.

Plan on submitting a Request for Internship at least eight (8) weeks prior to doing your internship. Proposals are accepted on a space-available basis, so get yours in early. Interested candidates should submit (a) a cover letter explaining your career goals and research interests, (b) resume, (c) a record of scholastic achievements, and (d) name/address of a letter of recommendation from your school (e.g., a current professor of a relevant upper division level course in major field of study). SELF-INITIATED INTERNSHIPS:

You can set-up your own summer internship by submitting a request to a faculty member listed on this web site. Alternatively, if you have searched our faculty listing, but you're not sure which is the right one--go ahead and create your own internship proposal! We can help you define your learning objectives, create an internship proposal and help you get into a summer research laboratory experience. It's important that you plan early for these opportunities.
