Research Interests:
The major thrust of our research effort is directed toward
developing an understanding of the physiology of Agrobacterium radiobacter
K84. In addition, we are investigating the regulation and biosynthesis of
the anti-neoplastic agent, agrocin 84, produced by this organism. The
ultimate aim of this research is to utilize recombinant DNA technology to
create a strain of Agrobacterium that will produce agrocin 84 in situ and
thus prevent crown gall disease in sensitive plants.
