Who Can Participate?

You may apply to the Metro READY program if you are a:

Graduate student in ECSE

Graduate students enrolled in the early childhood special education (ECSE) program at VCU are accepted as Metro READY scholars and receive:

• Training in collaboration and consultation
• Early childhood education coursework ( 6 credits)
• Preparation for ECSE teacher licensure

In order to be accepted as a Metro READY scholar you must have taken and passed the VCLA (Virginia Communication and Literacy Assessment)

Beginning ECSE teacher with a conditional license

Beginning early childhood special educators with conditional licenses are accepted into the program to complete the requirements specified by the Virginia Department of Education and receive:

• Faculty advising
• On-the-job supervision
• EI/ECSE endorsement program (minimum of 18 credits)

In order to be accepted as a Metro READY scholar you must be a fully licensed teacher OR have taken and passed theVCLA ( Virginia Communication and Literacy Assessment)
