Training Requirements

- Development of cultural competencies
- Knowledge and skills about inclusive practices
Family Mentorship Experience with a family of a child with a disability. For two semesters you will make monthly contacts and four visits with your assigned mentorship family.
This experience allows you to learn about the:
- Realities of daily life
- Value of family-centered practice
- Family strengths, resources, challenges
You are required to keep a journal of your experiences where you reflect on all that you have learned from your family.
Service Obligation upon graduation. All scholars must provide 2 years of special education services for every year of tuition support received. You are required to access other funding sources (VDOE 619 funds, school system funds, and/or scholarships), if eligible, prior to receiving the Metro READY tuition award.
