VCU Medical Center

The Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center is one of the leading academic medical centers in the country and stands alone as the only academic medical center in Central Virginia. The medical center includes several specialty hospitals and clinics; MCV Physicians, a 600-physician-faculty group practice; and the VCU Health Sciences Schools of Allied Health Professions, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy.

The VCU Medical Center is the site for the region's only Level 1 Trauma Center and offers state-of-the art care in more than 200 specialty areas including organ transplantation, head and spinal cord trauma, burn healing, and cancer treatment. As a leader in health care research, VCU Medical Center offers patients the opportunity to choose to participate in programs that advance evolving treatment, such as those sponsored by the National Cancer Institute through the VCU Massey Cancer Center, Virginia's first NCI-designated cancer center.

For several years running, VCUMC has been ranked by many of the rating organizations — including the National Research Corporation’s Consumer Choice, Solucient’s “Top 100” Hospitals, U.S. News & World Report — and recognized as a technology leader by being one of the “Most Wired” health care institutions in the country.
