Welcome to the Department of Emergency Medicine of the VCU Health System! We have a proud history of serving the central Virginia area. The VCU Health System is the only Level 1 Trauma Center in the region. Our Emergency Department provides treatment for approximately 85,000 patients per year. We are nationally recognized for our innovative management of chest pain, and medical management of the Richmond Ambulance Authority, an award winning and exemplary EMS system.
