The Department of Emergency Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in conjunction with the Division of Cardiology, is proud to offer a post-residency Fellowship in Emergent Cardiac Care.
This innovative fellowship will afford the successful candidate an outstanding opportunity to train and conduct research as part of the unparalleled translational model of Acute Coronary Syndrome that exists at VCU. The first year of fellowship will involve research, didactic, and clinical training opportunities in advanced electrocardiography, research methodology, emergency medical services, echocardiography, nuclear imaging techniques, advanced imaging (CTA/MR) and Clinical Decision Unit administration. During the second year the fellow is given the academic freedom to pursue an advanced degree (MHA, MPH, MBA, MSc) from one of the highly competitive schools within VCU and conduct clinical research under the close guidance of the director and adjunct fellowship faculty.
The fellow will also be given a faculty appointment as a Clinical Instructor in Emergency Medicine and perform clinical shifts as an attending physician at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center, a busy Level 1 Trauma Center. Salary and benefits will be highly competitive with similar fellowship programs. Additional funds will be available for national conference attendance, research supplies and other support.
