Academics Fellowships Clinical Resuscitation Fellowship

Fellowship in Clinical Resuscitation

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in conjunction with the Division of Cardiology and Center for Adult Critical Care, is proud to offer a post-residency Fellowship in Clinical Resuscitation.

This innovative fellowship will afford the successful candidate an outstanding opportunity to train and conduct research as part of the unparalleled translational model of Resuscitation that exists at VCU. The foundation for the first year of training is an intensive laboratory experience in shock physiology conducted in the VCU Reanimation Engineering Shock Center (VCURES) which complements unique clinical training opportunities in acute resuscitation, intensive care, emergency medical services, and echocardiography. During the second year the senior fellow is given the academic freedom to pursue an advanced degree (MHA, MPH, MBA, MSc) from one of the highly competitive schools within VCU while conducting clinical research and practicing as a member of the VCU Advanced Resuscitation, Cooling Therapeutics, and Intensive Care (ARCTIC) Team. The VCU ARCTIC Team provides comprehensive post-resuscitation care for cardiac arrest patients across Central Virginia.

The fellow will also be given a faculty appointment as a Clinical Instructor in Emergency Medicine and perform clinical shifts as an attending physician at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center, a busy Level 1 Trauma Center. Salary and benefits will be highly competitive with similar fellowship programs.  Additional funds are available for national conference attendance and research support.  The position will start on or about July 1, 2011.
