Assistant
Professor of Pharmaceutics
Degree: Ph.D.,
University of Kentucky
Research Interest:
The first line of
fetal defense against foreign or toxic compounds
includes ATP-Binding Cassette (ABC) transporters,
which use ATP to pump substances out of the placenta.
Data are lacking regarding how the protective
functions of the placenta are altered in various
conditions in pregnancy. The goal of this research is
to optimize maternal and fetal exposure to various
compounds by understanding the molecular mechanisms
involved in their disposition.
