Research interest: Molecular approaches to elucidate the virulence factors of Gram-negative, anaerobic periodontopathogens Porphyromonas gingivalis and Prevotella intermedia. Current focus on the mechanisms of hemin/iron acquisition in these bacteria using whole genome approaches, as well as proteomic approaches to understand germination of Bacillus spp. spores.
