FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are there benefits to taking part in this research study?

This study may or may not make your health better, depending on whether or not you lose weight. At this time, it is unknown whether the addition of the vagal nerve blocking therapy will make you lose or gain weight.

Will I need to pay for the examinations, tests, or procedures?

If you have health insurance, your study doctor and EnteroMedics Inc., will seek coverage from your health insurance company for your participation in this study.

If your health insurance company agrees to coverage and to pay for your participation in this study, you will not have to pay for medical care that you receive in the study and that is thought to be medically necessary by your study doctors and your health insurance company. You will however be billed for any co-payments or other cost sharing payments that may be required by your health insurance plan.

What if I don't have health insurance, or if my health insurance company won't cover my participation in the study?

EnteroMedics Inc. will pay for your participation in the study. The Maestro™ Obesity Management System is provided to you at no cost.
