Education
Education is
a key facet to broadening the field
of laparoscopic surgery. The MIS
Center has instituted a continuing
education program for all staff designed
to maintain, and better yet, set
the pace for current trends.
The Surgery Center:
Incorporates a video conference center and telemedicine library that allows regular teleconferences that promote sharing of ideas with other leaders in Minimally Invasive Surgery around the country.
Establishes and integrates
patient simulation into physician/
nurse training.
Maintains a continuing
education program for nurses and
residents
as well as community surgeons who want to offer new techniques
in their communities.
Focuses on patient
education and educational resource
center.
Utilizes a dry lab
with skill stations for residency training.
Developed a Fellowship in
advanced laparoscopy surgery which
began in July, 2000
and trains two to three surgeons per year
.
Provides the most efficient
allocation of medical resources and
expertise, especially to primary care
and underserved areas.
Is expanding the educational
delivery system model to benefit other
components of higher education throughout
the University community.
The MIS Center also
focuses on Patient Education and maintains
an expanding resource center for patients
and their families.
