Welcome to the VCU Minimally Invasive Surgery Center
Dedicated
to patient care, education, and research,
the MIS Center promotes innovation and excellence
through the development of laparoscopic skills training.
The MIS Center is a fully functional surgical simulation center serving students, residents, and established surgeons learning new laparoscopic surgery skills.
Welcome to our MIS Fellow 2012-13: Dr. Angel Reyes
Through advanced telecommunications, the videoconference center is fully interactive with operating rooms at VCU Medical Center hospitals and similar centers throughout the world.
The surgeons at the Minimally Invasive Surgery Center are on the forefront
of laparoscopic surgery and have
pioneered and developed numerous techniques
and procedures. Surgical breakthroughs
at the Center include pioneering laparoscopic weight-loss surgery, vagal blockade for weight loss, gastric stimulation for gastroparesis and soon, diaphragmatic pacemaker stimulation to help treat ventilator dependent quadriplegics.
