Internships
In partnership with communications companies and government agencies throughout the Richmond area, the school offers extensive internships in advertising, public relations, television, newspapers, magazines and new media.
Internships are offered for academic credit through MASC 493 Fieldwork Internship. The course is designed to provide undergraduate mass communications students with practical, real-world work experience in mass media, nonprofit, government or private sector organizations.

If you are a business, company, agency or media outlet interested in providing a mass communications internship, you should submit an electronic, one-page job description to the student services coordinator ( cbmawyer@vcu.edu).
Information to include in your listing
Internship Applications are available in 2208 and 2219 of the Temple Building. This document details all course requirements (including a midsemester report and a final report due), qualifications and grading policies. It also contains information on ways to find an appropriate internship and contains evaluation and contract forms necessary for registration. Download this document before scheduling an appointment with the student services coordinator.
Students participating in internships will be assigned a faculty internship adviser and must meet with them at least twice times during the semester. They and their employers also are requested to complete an internship survey.
