Community Web Sites
As a part of its continuing support of the surrounding community, VCU operates a separate Web server where nonprofit community organizations may host Web pages about their organization at no cost to the organization (other than Internet access to maintain the pages).

Community site guidelines
The following design/content standards - in addition to the general regulations, general design and function, and accessibility standards of the university - pertain to all VCU-hosted/linked student organization Web sites, excluding "working" pages (i.e. class notes, syllabi, research projects, etc.) or pages designed specifically to provide a source of printed documents.
- Each organization creating pages is responsible for maintaining those pages and updating them in a timely manner with the latest information.
- All pages must contain a signature block with the following information:
- The date of the last revision, the expiration date or the revision frequency.
- The name of the unit responsible for the page.
- An email link to the person responsible for the page.
- All pages must contain a link back to the organization's home page. Links to the community Web home page are suggested, as well.
- Organizational home pages must contain a link back to the Community Web home page. In addition, they should contain the street address, U.S. mail address (if different) and the telephone number of the organization's office or main representative.
- Organizations creating pages should provide links, if necessary, to pages containing authoritative information outside their areas of responsibility rather than creating the pages themselves. This step is to ensure that the most up-to-date and accurate information is being provided.
- Pages located on the community Web server may not be used to promote commercial activities, personal business or personal financial gain.
Use of the community Web server by community organizations is a privilege and not a right. Any organization violating these guidelines may be removed from the server at VCU's sole discretion.
