Dr. Coelho graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, and received his medical degree with distinction from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Following his residency in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck surgery at Yale University, he completed a two-year accredited fellowship in Otology & Neurotology at New York University. Dr. Coelho joined the faculty in 2008 and currently holds the title of Assistant Professor.
His clinical interest include tumors of the skull base (acoustic neuromas, glomus tumors), surgery of the facial nerve, surgery of the middle ear and mastoid, cholesteatoma, and cochlear implantation. He also evaluates and treats patients with vestibular problems such as Meniere's disease and positional vertigo, as well as patients with hearing loss and tinnitus.
Dr. Coelho's has authored numerous peer-reviewed papers, chapters, and books on otology and neurotology. His current research interests focus on cochlear implantation, stereotactic radiosurgery, geriatric otology, and medical ethics.
