  Bridging Oppurtunities The stories presented in this publication demonstrate the positive impact the School of Education has on its community and highlight the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process, our collaborative spirit, and the applied nature of our research. The concept of Bridging Opportunities is reflected in five themes that frame the stories: offering access to higher education, engaging students in interactive learning, conducting research that drives best practices, supporting inclusive education, and developing connections that foster community collaboration and partnerships.

2006-2007

Achievements of our faculty, students, and alumni in the 2006-07 academic year were remarkable and recognized by U.S. News & World Report's annual review of graduate programs, which ranked us among the top 50 graduate schools of education. Our doctoral enrollment increased by almost 20 percent; we welcomed 14 new faculty members, the largest single year growth in our 44-year history; and external funding increased by more than 21 percent.

2005-2006

The 2005-06 academic year offered exciting and challenging times for the School of Education. We experienced a change in leadership, welcomed a new Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, hired 10 new faculty, increased enrollment by 25 percent, and recorded $20 million in external funding awards.
