Testing and Assessment

How many tests should you offer in a given semester? How long should tests be? How do you write good test questions? What are some legitimate alternatives to objective tests? What is the difference between evaluation and assessment? How do you give students meaningful feedback about their learning and progress in your course. This workshop is designed to help faculty address these questions and more.

Outcomes

By the end of this session, you should be able to

• Distinguish between testing and assessment and explain their respective roles in terms of enhancing teaching and promoting learning
• Integrate testing and assessment more seamlessly into your teaching
• Write better test questions and create more accurate evaluations
• Develop more meaningful opportunities for students to both give and receive feedback
