Improving the Effectiveness of Your Lectures

Lecturing may be one of the most effective ways of delivering content, but it is rarely the most effective way of learning the content. Nonetheless, there are a number of techniques that can be employed that can improve the effectiveness of your lectures. Participants in this workshop will explore a range of conditions and formats in which the lecture can be most effective. In addition, participants will learn how to improve the effectiveness of their lectures.

Outcomes:

By the end of this session, you should be able to

• Identify the contexts in which lecturing can be most effective.
• Integrate a number of teaching techniques that can enhance or compliment lectures.
• Facilitate learning beyond a scripted lecture.
