Lecturing may be one of the most effective ways of delivering content, but it is rarely the most effective way of learning the content. Nonetheless, there are a number of techniques that can be employed that can improve the effectiveness of your lectures. Participants in this workshop will explore a range of conditions and formats in which the lecture can be most effective. In addition, participants will learn how to improve the effectiveness of their lectures.
Outcomes:
By the end of this session, you should be able to
- Identify the contexts in which lecturing can be most effective.
- Integrate a number of teaching techniques that can enhance or compliment lectures.
- Facilitate learning beyond a scripted lecture.
