Making Student Thinking Visible: Teaching with Classroom Response Systems

Classroom response systems (a.k.a. “clickers”) are interactive polling technologies that allow instructors to question students in class, receive student responses and provide instant feedback displayed in a viewable histogram. This session will focus on how student engagement, active learning, peer instruction, and the collection of formative assessment data can all be promoted through the use of this technology. Participants will explore the use of clickers through discipline-based vignettes intended to model effective instructional practice, and learn how to get started using this technology at VCU.

For more information, contact Jeff Nugent (7-0563 or jsnugent@vcu.edu) or Zachary Goodell (7-0562 or zggoodel@vcu.edu).
