The term “active learning” has many different connotations these days. Some techniques are more suitable for some settings than others. However, there are a few basic principles to the concept that are universal and some techniques that lend themselves to just about any teaching / learning context. In this workshop, you will learn o The basic principles of active learning o Why it works and when it works o The basic techniques that suitable for almost any occasion (e.g. the minute paper, peer-to-peer instruction, pick your poison, note-sharing, etc.)
