Softchalk: Create Interactive Course Content
SoftChalk is an easy-to-use software tool for creating engaging interactive web content that can be published directly into Blackboard. With SoftChalk 7, you can easily add engaging features to your course web pages, including: pop-up notes and annotations, in-line comprehension testing, interactive games and tools, without having to understand HTML. The content you create can be easily imported into Blackboard, or published to any Web server. SoftChalk 7 is free for any VCU instructor may download the software and key from the VCU Blackboard login page. This session will also provide awareness of SoftChalk Cloud, which requires a subscription from SoftChalk.com. (Staff and graduate students assisting faculty in the development of course material are also welcome to attend this workshop.)
Outcomes
By the end of this session you should be able to:
- Download & install SoftChalk 7 on your own computer
- List the basic functions and tools within Softchalk 7
- Create a simple lesson in the SoftChalk 7 editor
- Select a stylesheet
- Create multiple pages and incorporate a Table of Contents
- Import images
- Use TextPoppers and QuizPoppers
- Create Sidebars
- Provide students with links and resources
- Create assessment opportunities
- Describe SoftChalk 7 Activities
- Incorporate a SoftChalk 7 lesson into a Blackboard class
- Be aware of SoftChalk Cloud (*Note: requires a subscription from SoftChalk.com)
