Small Grants Program:
Evaluation Criteria

Category	Criteria
Basic:	Has submitted application form (first page).
	Has submitted budget (second page of application).
	Has submitted proposal.
	Has necessary signatures.
	Has necessary number of copies
	Has assessment plan
Budget:	Budgeted items are necessary to the project.
	There is some shared cost with the department or school
	Final budget is within the parameters of the program.
Applicants Qualifications:	Qualified to do the work.
Project Objectives:	Clearly stated.
	Measurable
	Objectives are clearly related primarily to teaching.
	Project is tied to dept., school, or university objectives.
Project Significance:	Background/literature review gives the reader at least an adequate understanding of the problem
	Clearly stated.
	There is potential to impact a large number of students OR fewer students could be affected in profound ways.
	There is or was support from the applicant’s department or school.
Proposed Teaching Activity - general	Is specific and/or detailed.
	Is related to the project’s objectives
	Level of innovation or creativity in design, yet is realistic
	Timelines for project included
Proposed Teaching Activity - Student Engagement	There is potential to increase student/faculty interaction
	There is potential to increase student/student interaction
	There is potential to increase student engagement with course material
Proposed Teaching Activity - Learning-Centeredness	The proposal addresses specific student learning outcomes
	The proposal explores and/or articulates learning-centered teaching practices
Assessment:	Plan is specific and/or detailed and includes timeline
	Plan is related to the project’s objectives
