What is Knowledgenet?

KnowledgeNet is a computer/web-based training system available to all VCU students, faculty, and staff. Approximately 280 different tutorials are available online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The tutorials cover wide range of topics including Adobe and Microsoft applications, multimedia, programming languages and business and personality development. In addition to the tutorials, KnowledgeNet also provides assessments as mandated by different schools.

What is Skillport?

Skillport is a web based training system, similar in features and functionality to knowledgenet. The tutorials included in this platform are very similar to the ones available through Knowledgenet.

When are you switching from Knowledgenet to Skillport?

The tentative date for switching the service is end of January. We are currently testing the new platform to make sure it works as intended.

How will I access Skillport?

You can access Skillport the same way you have been doing with Knowledgenet. Once Skillport is available, you can log in myVCU portal and find Skillport under Single Sign-on Links.

Do I need any special browser settings for using Skillport?

The content player of Skillport opens in a new popup window. You will have to disable your popup blocker to see the content in Skillport.

I have already taken some assessments in Knowledgenet. What will happen to my scores?

We will download all the scores once Knowledgenet site is turned off. If you have taken assessments in Knowledgenet, we will be able to retrieve your scores.

Will the assessments in Skillport be different from the assessments in Knowledgenet?

No, the assessments will be same in Skillport with respect to the number of questions and passing percentage.
