I am a faculty Instructional Technology Consultant in the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) at VCU. Many of you may know me from classes and special faculty workshops in the CTE (or in my former position within VCU Academic Technology and the Instructional Development Center). I have taught classes and delivered many presentations on the use of various technologies and their use for the development and delivery of educational content. My management experience includes leading departments that have supported the use of various media and telecommunications for teaching and learning. I am an Administrator on the VCU Blackboard system and my interests are in leveraging the use of Blackboard and other technologies to best meet educational objectives and improve student interaction, outcomes and their ability to transfer knowledge to new situations. One of the topics I most enjoy is studying and teaching digital imaging.
Aside from my work in the CTE, I enjoy several outside interests. Key among these is time to travel and relax with my wife, driving our Miata MX5 and pursuing my avocation of bagpiping.
I hold a BFA from the Fort Wayne Art Institute, an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University, a Certificate of Online Teaching and Learning, from California State University (CSU), and an MS in Education., with a Specialization in Online Teaching and Learning from CSU.
