"Don't squash that bug - insect sentinels to the rescue"
Karen Kester, Ph.D.
Department of Biology, VCU

Dr. Karen Kester, VCU associate professor of biology, is an entomologist by training and avocation. Her innovative research on insects as biosentinels for detecting bioterrorism agents has broad applications for human health and environmental monitoring. Other research investigates the evolutionary ecology of tritrophic interactions involving plants, insects and their parasites.
