It is of utmost importance that all users of the Mass Spectrometry Resource pay attention to safety hazards that may exist at the laboratory, including the following:

  • Magnetic and electric fields
  • Hazardous voltages
  • LASER
  • high vacuum
  • hot surfaces
  • Gases under high pressure: air, argon, nitrogen, and helium.
  • Solvents: methanol, Acetonitrile, acetone, etc.
  • Organic acids (acetic, formic, trifluoroacetic)
  • Exhausts emanating from all pumps that operate in the laboratory, including HPLC and mass spectrometers
