is of utmost importance that all users of the Mass Spectrometry
Resource pay attention to safety hazards that may exist at the
laboratory, including the following:
- Magnetic and electric fields
- Hazardous voltages
- LASER
- high vacuum
- hot surfaces
- Gases under high pressure: air, argon,
nitrogen, and helium.
- Solvents: methanol, Acetonitrile,
acetone, etc.
- Organic acids (acetic, formic, trifluoroacetic)
- Exhausts emanating from all pumps
that operate in the laboratory, including HPLC and mass spectrometers
