Undergraduate bioinformatics majors select a concentration based on their interest: Biological/Genomic, Computational, or Quantitative/Statistical. Concentrations allow students to build a strong undergraduate foundation in at least one area of bioinformatics. Each concentration is composed of 'concentration-required' and 'concentration elective' courses reflecting the specialty area. Open elective credits allow students to either explore a new concentration or further explore their chosen concentration. Students pursuing the bachelor to master degree are strongly encouraged to use these electives to optimize their preparation for their intended masters training. Please see the VCU Bulletin listing for each track for detailed information.
