The Greater Richmond Chamber of
Commerce, Greater Richmond Partnership, Inc. and Virginia Commonwealth
University are conducting the Second Annual Regional Economic Outlook Conference.
The purpose of these conferences is to bring useful economic forecasting
information and expertise to the businesses that are affected by the economic
climate of our region, the state, and the nation. People who attend these
conferences are members of the academic, business and governmental communities.
This year's conference focuses on the research and development facilitates
in the area and their impact on our economy. Click here

The national economic outlook will be given
by Dr. Christine Chmura, Chief Economist for Crestar. The regional
economic outlook will be delivered by Dr. Michael Pratt, Director of the
Virginia Center for Urban Development. Panelists include James Derderian,
Chief of Staff of the House Commerce Committee; Ronald Kollman, Vice President
Research and Development of Ethyl Corporation; William Welstead, Assistant
Vice President Analytical Development of Whitehall-Robins; Mark Spenik,
Vice President of Enterprise Technology Group, and Keiter Stephens Computer
Services. The key note speaker will be Dr.
Richard K. Lester, Director of the Industrial Performance Center at
MIT and author of "The Productive Edge: How American Industries
are Pointing the Way to a New Era of Economic Growth". This year the conference
is being sponsored by Crestar Bank, Liberty Property Trust and the law
firm of Mays & Valentine.
This event is being held on
Wednesday, January 20, 1999 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Richmond,
Virginia from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The Crown Plaza Hotel
(formerly the Radisson) is located on 555 Canal Street in downtown
Richmond. Parking is available on site, for $4 per day (enter the
