Child Safety Seat Inspection Refresher Course
The TSTC of VCU offers child safety seat inspection refresher courses throughout the year. These workshops will focus on the following child passenger safety topics:
- Obese and autistic children and their safety restraints.
- New and unusual child restraints.
- School bus safety now and in the future.
- Reducing confusion about LATCH.
- Technical updates regarding occupant restraints.
- Helping caregivers select safety restraints.
This refresher course will not enable an expired technician to recertify and is not mandated for continuance as a technician. However, the current course has been approved by Safe Kids for 6 Continuing Education Units (CEUs); all of which may be used to meet the current recertification standards. Non-certified technicians are welcome to attend.
Prerequisite
Must have attended a 32-hour child passenger safety training program.

This course is free of charge, and is not mandated to continue your certification as a technician. Training approved for law enforcement in-service credit. Technicians should review the re-certification requirements that are available at the Safe Kids’ Web site.
Transportation, lodging and meals are the responsibility of each student. Classes will begin at the times listed for each session.
