To remain in good standing, students must maintain continuous registration
for each fall and spring semester (except for official leaves of
absence) until they have completed all requirements, including the
dissertation. Students are required to enroll for a minimum
of nine semester hours each calendar year. Once a student has completed
all course requirements and passed the comprehensive examinations,
he/she must maintain continuous enrollment of three credits of dissertation
research per year. A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale must be maintained
and all degree requirements must be completed in eight years. Compliance
with other relevant university regulations also is required. See
the Graduate
and Professional Programs Bulletin online for details.
An important mode of communication between the program office and
students is through e-mail, and several classes use computer-based
interactive technology. So, while the university provides an array
of computing facilities, most students find it desirable to have
personal access to a computer, including Internet connection.
