Department Profiles
The Office of the Vice Provost for Academic and Faculty Affairs and CIE are working to develop a statistical profile of departmental activity that can be used as part of the systematic review of all academic programs. Measures to be included in these departmental profiles will include:
- faculty headcount by rank,
- student credit hours contributed for majors and non-majors,
- student headcount by degree program,
- degrees awarded by degree program and
- direct and indirect research expenditures.
These department profiles are to be considered along with materials related to faculty productivity and student learning outcomes in departmental self-studies and external peer reviews of degree programs. They also will be used to support institutional decision making, especially decisions related to budgetary matters and space allocation.
School- and college-level profiles are currently available to authorized users via SAS Web Report Studio. In the near future, CIE will make departmental profiles available there as well. In the meantime, academic units wishing to obtain these profiles for program review or decision-support purposes can contact our office at (804) 827-0932 to obtain the appropriate department, school and college profile(s).
