The members of the Tissue Repair Group, Drs. Sato-Bigbee, Diegelmann, Zehner, Beckmann, and Ratz, are studying how a variety of tissues respond to injury. Among these are smooth and cardiac muscle, bone, and brain tissues. The members of this group have expertise in signal transduction, the regulation of gene expression, and the biology of the extracellular matrix. The studies of this group are intended to better understand the endogenous healing processes of the body in hopes that these can be harnessed to promote more efficient and substantial wound healing in clinical settings.
