I extend a cordial welcome to you from the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. This site
will tell you about the Department; it's degree programs, courses, faculty,
staff, facilities and activities. We are moderate in size (not too big, not too
small!), with all of the major instrumentation and facilities to allow our
faculty and coworkers to perform world-class research, while maintaining an
atmosphere conducive to one-on-one interactions among faculty, staff, and
students at all levels.
The Biochemistry & Molecular Biology Department has an outstanding faculty of 20 dedicated and
enthusiastic regular members and 20 affiliated members and approximately 50
graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. In addition to strong graduate
programs, we are dedicated to research, and consider it an essential component
of the education of our graduates. A significant number of peer-reviewed
publications from the Department are co-authored by our students.
I am also pleased to announce that the Department has a new highly interactive,
multi-disciplinary initiative underway in cellular and molecular signaling.
Our mission is to prepare students for successful careers as independent
investigators in academia, government, biotechnology, and in teaching. If you
are searching for outstanding training in biochemistry, molecular biology,
structural biology, and cellular and molecular signaling, this is the place for
you. We welcome your inquiries and comments. I hope that you find your virtual
visit to the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology an enjoyable one, and I encourage you to
drop in and visit us in person!
Sincerely,
Sarah Spiegel, Ph.D.
