Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology students are doing extremely well and making all of us
very proud. Our students made significant contributions to The Daniel T. Watts
Research (Poster) Symposium and impressed everyone with their presentations. At the
Massey Cancer Center Research Retreat, our students and postdoctoral fellows had
many outstanding posters. Two out of the three top awards for best presentations
went to Biochemistry & Molecular Biology graduate students. Congratulations to Heidi Sankala (Dr. Sarah
Spiegel’s laboratory), who received a first place "Excellence in Cancer Research"
award, and to Becky Frum (Dr. Swati Deb’s laborataory), who received the second
place award.
In addition, Pretti Subramanian (Dr. Charles Chalfant’s laboratory) received the
Biochemical Journal Award at the 39th Annual Southeastern Regional Lipid Conference
for her outstanding presentation of her research on ceramide-1-phosphate as an
