Fifth Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium/ ICAMS Research Retreat

On Friday October 26, 2007 the Department of Biochemistry will host its 5th annual Undergraduate Research Symposium/ Integrated Cellular and Molecular Signaling (ICAMS) Research Retreat. This event is a forum for the presentation of research projects performed by undergraduate students and pre- and post-doctoral researchers from colleges and universities throughout the Southeast. Thus, participants have the opportunity to present research posters to a diverse audience, with a variety of research interests and expertise.

The event starts with a Keynote Address at 11:00 by Dr. Pin-Lan Li, Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology, VCU School of Medicine entitled "Lipid Rafts/Redox Signaling Platforms in Vascular Endothelial cells".

The keynote address is followed by poster presentations from 12:00-2:00.

The American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) will present undergraduate travel awards to its 2008 Annual Meeting in San Diego. The awards will be presented to the best undergraduate poster presenters in the following categories: Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology & Genetics, and Biophysics. Please note: to be considered for a travel award, you must provide documentation that you have registered for the 2008 ASBMB meeting.
