Dr. John B. Fenn Presents Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology Seminar

On September 27, 2004, Dr. John B. Fenn, 2002 recipient of the Nobel Prize for Chemistry, presented a seminar entitled: Why Elephants Fly: Electrospray Wings for Molecular Elephants in the VCU Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology seminar series. Dr. Fenn is a research professor in the Department of Chemistry at VCU.


John Fenn


He won the Nobel Prize for his work on mass spectrometry, specifically electrospray ionization (ESI). This technique has been fundamental to the development of the field of proteomics, the systematic study of the changes in protein modification that occur in response to extracellular stimuli.
