Digital Photography
This course presents the concepts, techniques, and processes of digital photography, including visualizing, capturing, scanning, computer manipulation, and printing. Emphasis is placed on creative picture making. Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator software will be used in a Macintosh OSX operating system. No prior experience with this software is required. Knowledge of the operation of your camera is required.
Digital photography students should bring the following items to class on the first day:
• Digital camera (Point & Shoot or Manual) with minimum 750MB capacity of combined memory storage
• Cable for connecting your camera to a computer
• 10 CD-R discs and/or 1GB jump drive
• Pen and paper
• Tripod (preferred but not required)
Additional expenses:
• Textbook (approximately $35 – title to be announced)
• Printing costs (approximately $100)
Instructor Bio: Paul Thulin
Paul Thulin is a nationally recognized photo artist. He earned a BA degree in Philosophy and an MFA degree in Photography. As an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Photography and Film he teaches both undergraduate and graduate level courses in analog and digital photography and contemporary theory and criticism.
