ABOUT THE VCU SUMMER INTENSIVE PROGRAM

SCHEDULE

We have planned very full days to ensure participants gain maximum value from their Summer Intensive experience. Each week day, students will be engaged in the following:

8:00 – 8:45 am Breakfast
9:00 – noon Morning Learning Modules
12:15 – 1:30 pm Lunch
1:45 – 4:45 pm Afternoon Learning Modules
5:45 – 6:30 pm Dinner
7 – 9:00 pm Evening Modules/Studio Time
10 pm – Midnight Social Activities in the dorm
Midnight – Room Check/Lights Out

Participants have the opportunity to go home, stay in the residence hall or take field trips on weekends to learn more about art and the Richmond Metropolitan area. Field trip sign ups begin after students are accepted into the program.

Evening Modules are interdisciplinary learning modules intended to spark creative problem-solving and introduce students to new fields and approaches in art.Modules include events such as:

-An exclusive gala reception at the VCU Anderson Gallery. Participants will learn about gallery work from the Anderson Gallery staff, as well as about museum careers.
-A performance by The Starr Foster Dance Project.
-How-to sessions on the college application process, financial aid and scholarship opportunities.
-Unstructured studio time for participants to prepare for final "Show Your Stuff" exhibition.

All students are expected to attend all programs events unless the Program Director has written permission from the students' parents or guardians.
