(Continued) means just that: A Character's speech is too long to finish at the bottom of the page. So the dialogue has to carry over for that Character.

	alone.  Is that what you call . . .
			(Softer)
	doing nothing?

A (Continued) simply alerts the reader and performer that this is not a new speech when they turn the page.
