Overview: Letter From the Dean
The School of the Arts is one of the nation's largest arts and design schools. We have an exceptional faculty whose work is recognized by major museums, art and design publications, PBS television, National Public Radio, the Kennedy Center, regional theatres across the country and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Our graduates have made an impact on nearly every area of the arts and design in America. They have been awarded Guggenheim Fellowships, MacArthur "Genius" Awards, Academy Awards, Joan Mitchell Awards in the Visual Arts, Pollock-Krasner Awards, television's Emmys, and advertising's Clios. Their work is published in Newsweek, Psychology Today, Metropolitan Home, Sports Illustrated, Fortune, Vogue, Communication Arts, Graphis, House Beautiful, Harper's Bazaar, Architectural Digest, and The New York Times.
The work of VCUarts graduates has appeared in the Chicago International Film Festival, Cooper-Hewitt Museum of Design, New York City Opera, Metropolitan Opera, Guggenheim Museum, Joffrey Ballet, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Corcoran Gallery, Hirshhorn Museum, Museum of Modern Art, Tate Modern, Carnegie Hall, Nike advertising, MTV, the Library of Congress, Sundance Film Festival, Whitney Museum, the collections of Bill Blass and Oscar de la Renta, Disney Studios, Spike Lee Productions, Tokyo Museum and San Francisco MOMA... And that's only what comes to mind at the moment.
There's a reason the School of the Arts is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation's top 6 arts schools. Our size and international reputation create an exceptional range of opportunities for you. When you bring the talent, we have the experience and the place to develop it.
