• The students in ARTE 670, taught by Dr. Melanie Buffington, made podcasts in conjunction with the upcoming exhibit at the VMFA, Rule Brittania! The museum decided to use all the podcasts on their website and will use one of them also on their cell phone audio tour. The podcasts will be available with images of the work in the next few weeks on the website: thequeeniscoming.com. This project was supported with a grant from the CTE Small Grant Program.
• Senior Communication Arts student, Chris White, has won the top prize of a one-week Illustrator Academy Scholarship from the Illustration Society for his work entitled Victory March. Six works by four students in the department were selected for inclusion in this prestigious exhibition.
• Tim Rusterholz, BFA Sculpture, has received the first place honor in the North Carolina/Virginia Regional competition of The National Society of Arts and Letters for water-based media on paper.

Undergraduate:
• Tina Boy received a full scholarship to Haystack Mountain School of Crafts to study with Jocelyn Prince this summer. Tina Boy and Kari Scott were 2 of 15 recipients of the 2007 NICHE student awards: http://www.americancraft.com/NICHE_Awards/introduction_page.html
Graduate:
• Joshua Rodenberg received an assistantship from Arrowmont to work with alumnus Travis Townsend.
Alumni:
• Maria Kovacs received a Jack Lenor Larsen scholarship to study with Jon Eric Riis at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts this summer.
