• VCUarts Anderson Gallery is hosting the exhibition, Artificial Light, which highlights the work of seven artists who use actual light as a medium, September 15 through October 29. Curated by John B. Ravenal of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the luminous exhibit will travel to Miami MOCA where it will run during Art Basel Miami Beach from December 7, 2006 through February 18, 2007.

• VCUarts Theatre faculty is in a second phase of experimentation with VCU Health System’s Internal Medicine physicians. In Phase One, Theatre faculty observed two groups of physicians and interviewed sixteen patients at MCV’s Ambulatory Care Center. One group received empathy training from VCUarts Theatre. When patients were asked about the interaction with their doctor, it became clear that those who had been trained were perceived to be more caring, and patients of these doctors felt better as a result.
