VCU hosts a full day comprehensive cello workshop which includes a lecture/recital and the Young Artist Masterclass with world renowned cellist Joel Krosnick of the Juilliard String Quartet; sectionals with VCU faculty and guest faculty; and a massed cello choir performance. Join the over 80 cellists who participated in this phenomenal event at VCU last year!

| 9:00-10:30 am | VCU faculty Dana McComb, Jason McComb and guest faculty share their pedagogical approach as they explore the cello choir literature in smaller groups. Appropriate for cellists of all levels and ages. - Fournier Group: Remains in 1st position only. A part suitable for beginners is also available. - Du Pre Group: Shifts into 2nd and 4th position. - Rostropovich Group: Shifts anywhere, but doesn’t go beyond 4th or 5th position. - Casals Group: Anything goes! |
| 10:30 am - 12:30PM | Young Artist Masterclass with Joel Krosnick Gifted young cellists, selected by audition, will perform in an open class and have the opportunity to work with master cellist Joel Krosnick. |

Lunch Gather with other cellists and share your thoughts and ideas about the cello; network; enjoy! |
| 1:45-3 PM | Sectionals continue with VCU and guest faculty. |
| 3 - 4:15 pm | The Language of Contemporary Music Joel Krosnick performs from contemporary cello literature and shares his approach and vast experience on discovering the language of contemporary cello music. Having commissioned, premiered and recorded works by composers such as Ralph Shapey, Donald Martino and Richard Wernick, Mr. Krosnick has a unique insight into deciphering the Language of Contemporary Music. |
| 4:15 pm | Cello Choir Rehearsal Cellists of all ages and levels are invited to participate in a massed ensemble divided by level to create an amazing sound and playing experience. |
| 5:30 PM | Cello Choir Concert Enjoy the fruits of our labor in a concert open to family and friends in Recital Hall! |

- $75 early bird special - applications postmarked byJanuary 15, 2012. Participate in all events.
Lunch and parking included. - $85 normal registration - applications accepted until February 12, 2012. Participate in all events. Parking and lunch not included after January 25, 2012.
- $45 observer registration - non-playing participant who attends all events (parking and lunch not included).
- Any teacher who brings three or more students can attend all events for free (parking and lunch not included).
- Young Artist Masterclass: $25 application fee
Cellists playing at an advanced level may apply to perform and work with Joel Krosnick in a public session. Applications for live audition or DVD applications must be RECEIVED by January 10 , 2012.
** The regular $75 Cellopaloosa Participant fee must be paid in addition to the $25 application fee in order to participate in the Masterclass.
Registration fees are non-refundable.
