Alumni
The VCU Jazz Program is proud to have many alumni and former students who are in active careers as performers, educators, composers, music industry businesspersons and more.
While not all were Jazz Studies majors, many of our alumni grew as musicians during their time at VCU by performing in VCU jazz ensembles and taking jazz classes. We appreciate all those who have gone on from VCU to make a positive difference in the world, whether musical or otherwise.
“For its size, the city is strong in local talent. The reason is Virginia Commonwealth University. … The jazz program … attracts talent from around the state and country and, four years later, pumps out degreed artists into an increasingly rich and crowded local market.”
— Style Weekly
If you were a Jazz Studies major or were involved in jazz ensembles or classes, we invite you to stay in touch with the department. Subscribe to the VCU Jazz E-newsletter; each issue is full of details about student, faculty and alumni concerts, workshops, CDs and news. E-mail us about your latest news and performances for potential inclusion in the e-newsletter so that others can keep up with your activities.
Most importantly, if you live in the Richmond region, we hope you’ll come by and enjoy the latest jazz activities at VCU.
