Whatever your musical goals are as a flutist, you will achieve them under the tutelage of Dr. Tabatha Easley at VCU. Her weekly master classes include performance opportunities; one on one work with guest artists, and continued discussions of the most relevant flute topics including wellness and injury prevention. Upon graduation, our majors have all necessary tools to stay competitive in the musical field.

Dr. Easley trained at the Eastman School of Music and has performed professionally for more than ten years resulting in an exceptionally high standard within her studio at the University. Her students win competitions and are well versed in the fundamentals of teaching as well as playing the flute which provides them the tools and valuable insight necessary to teach in the public schools or successfully maintain their own private studio.

A high performance standard is well-established in the flute studio. Graduates perform internationally and hold major university and military performance positions. Flute students enjoy the strong support of their peers and the admiration of other studios as they perform in university ensembles and throughout the musically rich Eastern Virginia artistic community.

Please take the time to browse the VCU Music Web site and be sure to revisit often to access the most current information on our educational events and performances. Please feel free to e-mail or call with any questions.

The Richmond Flute Ensemble performed at the National Flute Conference in August 2011.
