Audition information
Auditions for VCU Music for entry in fall 2010 will be held on the following dates:
- Jan. 30, 2010 (Audition registration deadline January 15)
- Feb. 15, 2010 (Audition registration deadline February 1)
- Feb. 20, 2010 (Audition registration deadline (February 1)
Auditions are solely for those students intending to be music majors. You may request an audition day by using our online form after you have completed your application to the university. Please note that your requested audition date is tentative until confirmed by a letter from VCU Music.
Audition day
Each audition day at VCU Music begins with the registration of all applicants and a welcome session designed to give you more information about studying at VCU Music as well as allow you and your parent(s) to meet some of our faculty and students.
A Theory Placement Test will be administered in order to assess your music theory/aural skills and keyboard skills. Please be advised that the assessments are used as diagnostic tools for student placement in each of the areas tested. Acceptance into VCU Music is determined by the prospective student’s entire audition process and application.
To complete your audition day, you’ll have an informal interview with the department chair, assistant chair or a faculty member. Parents are encouraged to sit in on the interview. The interview provides an opportunity for us to get to know you better and allows you an opportunity to ask more specific questions.
