Sheri Oyan is a freelance musician and saxophone instructor in the Richmond, VA area. She can regularly be seen performing with the new music group quux collective, an ensemble she founded in 2007. Dr. Oyan and the members of quux collective have performed in a wide array of venues and cites, including Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond), Longwood University (Farmville), Swift Creek Mill Theatre (Colonial Heights), CREA (Amsterdam, Netherlands), McGuffey Art Center (Charlottesville), Pyramid Atlantic Arts Center (Silver Spring, MD), and others.
In addition to her duties with quux collective, Dr. Oyan also performs regularly in pit orchestras for Richmond theater companies, including Swift Creek Mill Theatre, Barksdale Theatre, Theatre IV, and Henrico Theater Co. to name a few.
Dr. Oyan currently maintains a private saxophone studio and is an Adjunct Instructor of Saxophone at Virginia Commonwealth University. She has also served as a saxophone instructor at Northwestern State University (Louisiana) and is a sought-after clinician and adjudicator. She holds degrees in saxophone performance from Louisiana State University (DMA), George Mason University (MA) and Virginia Commonwealth University (BM).
