Amy Hutton serves as the Director of Admissions. Prior to joining the Department of Music, she was an assistant professor and head of the stage management B.F.A. program in the Theatre Department at VCU. Under her supervision, the stage management program became nationally recognized for its training, especially in stage managing musical theatre and opera. Her students have gone on to stage manage on Broadway, at Cirque du Soleil and other internationally recognized venues.
Hutton is a professional stage manager and musical director, having worked on and off Broadway and in theatres across the country. She is a proud member of the Actors’ Equity Association. She received her Master of Fine Arts in theatre pedagogy from VCU and her Bachelor of Musical Arts in piano, voice, and organ from DePauw University’s School of Music.
Her pride and “joy” is her daughter, Joy, and her husband, Daniel.
